HELP! Musical performance

TodaHelp musical flyery Pilgrim and Nativity schools were lucky to enjoy a performance of the musical “HELP!”, featuring Illusionist Hunter James and the cast of the Help! World Tour. The event was arranged by Seeds Uniting Church with the support of local churches, and was greatly enjoyed by our students.

There will also be a free, family-friendly ‘Las Vegas style show’ evening performance at the Campus Gym during the school holidays, on Friday, April 22nd. Sausage Sizzle starts at 6pm followed by the performance at 7pm.

PERFORMING ARTS 2016

2016 will be a busy, exciting year for Performing Arts on Campus. We offer many wonderful opportunities for students in the form of comprehensive classroom Performing Arts lessons, a vibrant Instrumental Music Program, groups/ensembles such as Senior and Junior Choirs, Drama Club, Troupe, and Campus Band, and a multitude of performance opportunities throughout the year that include Campus Fair performances, Instrumental Music Night, Campus Showcase, Adelaide and Southern Music Festivals, and individual school musicals and performances.

Instrumental lessons

We currently offer Recorder lessons from Year 2, and flute, keyboard/piano, ukulele, guitar, voice, saxophone, clarinet, drums, violin, viola and cello lessons from Year 3 onwards. If you are interested in your child learning an instrument (including voice), please drop in to the Campus Office to collect an Instrumental Music Student Information booklet.

Bands & Choirs

To participate, students need to commit to a full year’s participation, including performance attendance, and a small fee will be charged to cover resources/transport/ensemble T-shirts, etc. Students are required to attend rehearsals promptly and regularly, to bring their music with and to catch up any class work missed as required.

Junior Choir is open to all students in Years 3-5

Senior Choir to all students in Years 6-7 (compulsory for all Year 6 students).

Campus Band is open to suitably skilled students in Years 5-7 – these students must have learnt their instrument for at least a year and be able to read basic notation/chords/tab.

Rehearsals are held in the PAC as follows: Senior Choir Wednesdays 9.15-10.05am, and Campus Band Thursdays 12.10-12.50pm, Junior Choir Thursdays 1.30pm- 2.20pm.

Drama Club

Our theatrically-minded students have the opportunity to develop their dramatic skills with the talented Ms Lauren Hood, participating in a range of drama activities and performance opportunities. Drama Club is open to Year 5-7 students this year, and the club meet Thursday lunchtimes in the Performing Arts Centre. Students are required to commit to a full year’s participation to be involved.

Campus Troupe

Troupe is open to all Year 5-7 students with an interest in dance, movement and/or choreography. Troupe sub-groups from each individual school also have rehearsal and performance opportunities. Campus Troupe rehearse on Tuesday lunchtimes in the PAC. Performances throughout the year will include Campus Fair, Showcase, and school and/or Campus assemblies.

On behalf of the Campus Performing Arts and Instrumental teaching staff, I wish you all a fun and fantastic year of Performing Arts experience!

Campus Performing Arts SHOWCASE 2015

In the final week of last term, Campus hosted our Performing Arts Showcase. Both our matinee and evening performances were well attended, with audience members thoroughly enjoying the show. The opportunity for students to perform in solo, duo, small and large ensembles (our final act saw over 140 students on stage together) is a fantastic part of what we do in Performing Arts on Campus, and it was a pleasure to display our students’ talents in music, dance, and drama. Our sincere thanks go to the many staff, students and parents who supported this event, giving their time and talents to make this one of our most successful Showcases yet…

The photos below were taken by the wonderful Andrew Harris on the night:IMG_7332 IMG_7028 IMG_7152 IMG_7034 IMG_7054 IMG_7078 IMG_7160 IMG_7200 IMG_6990 IMG_7237 IMG_7351

Congratulations!

Well done to all Campus students who auditioned to be a part of our Performing Arts Showcase this year! The quality of the acts this year was outstanding, with some very talented students from each of our three schools showing off their skills in music, dance, and drama. Special mention goes to Jade Dowley, who was invited to perform but chose to give away her position to allow another dance/calisthenics act to take the stage, as she was performing in other Campus ensembles and wanted to encourage younger students who wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity. Very impressive Jade!

Students who were selected to perform on the night along with some of our best Campus Instrumental Program students, Senior and Junior Choirs, Campus Band, Drama Club, Troupe, and Class Acts are as follows:

The Gomez family (Josh, Hannah, Sarah and Ben), Alanah Leaf-Milham, Emily Sarcina, Ebony Sarre, Georgia Burgman, Jack Hutton, Ronan Gallagher, Katie Gardiner, Lily Dowley, Alyssa Millard, Callum Hillier, Patrick Raw, and Vanessa Ricks.

Performing Arts Showcase is on Thursday of Week 10 (24th September), with a matinee performance at 1.30pm and an evening performance at 6.30pm. We look forward to seeing our fantastic Performing Arts students show off their skills and talents!

Performing Arts Showcase Auditions Week 2

Dear Students,

If you learn a Performing Art OFF Campus (such as music, dance or drama), you are eligible to audition for a solo item for Performing Arts Showcase.

These auditions will take place in the Performing Arts Centre Theatre in Week 2 of Term 3, during Thursday and Friday lunchtimes.

If you choose to audition, you must be well prepared, know your act from memory and be of a high standard. There are only limited places to be won, so practise over the holidays!

You must bring anything you need for your audition, for example CD backing, costume/props, instrument, dance shoes, etc.

If you would like to book in for an audition, you can do so by seeing Ms Cunningham in the PAC.

If you learn a Performing Art ON Campus, you are not eligible to audition. Senior Choir, Junior Choir, Band, Drama Club, and Troupe are performing. Campus Instrumental teachers will nominate their best instrumental students – talk to your instrumental teacher if you are interested in performing.

POLICE BAND ROCKS CAMPUS!!!

We were lucky to have a visit from the South Australian Police Rock Band recently. These professional performers entertained classes from all three Campus schools, playing a mix of current hits and classic well-known songs, and talking to our students about keeping themselves safe, how to manage bullying, and how to respect others in our school and personal lives. A great show with a great message! Thanks to Constable Naomi Tillet (ex-Pilgrim parent) for arranging the performance in her role as Schools Community Liason Officer for Sturt.
